The 2025 Experimental Balloon and Airship Association event took place between Friday May 16 and Sunday May 18, 2025.
The weekend was one of the windiest and wettest in EBAA’s recent history, offering challenging ballooning conditions.
Friday night featured a short flight window, highlighted by the inflation of Paul Stumpf’s original homebuilt experimental balloon Scat I (1975). Saturday’s events included an afternoon slide show presentation of Stumpf’s early balloon designs and adventures, as well as a 50th anniversary celebration of Stumpf balloons. An evening performance by local Vermont band The Grey Cats was moved inside the Experimental Balloon and Airship Museum during a fierce downpour. Sunday morning featured an early flight window before the wind picked back up.
Despite the limited flying opportunities, attendees were able to commune over new design ideas, swap stories, and celebrate the start of the 2025 summer flying season.
